Henry Geddes - Inventor And Co-Founder
Henry Geddes began his career in photography at the International Center of Photography (ICP) in New York City.
Primarily focused on fashion photography, Henry worked as a freelancer and gained technical expertise working in the equipment rooms of Pier 59 Studios, the largest and most fabled of photo studios in the city. His interest in the emerging digital technology led him to an instrumental role in the image-fulfillment of the Sotheby website launch in 1999, at a time when e-commerce photography was becoming increasingly important with the emergence of sites like EBay and Amazon.
This online trend combined with Henry’s fashion background led to him opening his own production facility called Splashlight Studios in 2001. Splashlight opened without a single client and within 18 months exceeded 5 million dollars in revenue. Clients Niemen Marcus, Calvin Klein, Barneys, Warner Brothers, Nike, Porsche, Macy’s and the publications such as Vogue, Elle and W all are Splashlight regulars.
Splashlight Studios has grown significantly over the past 10 years and today successfully operates out of New York and Miami, as one of the most recognized and respected names in the industry.
Based out of Delray Beach, Florida, Henry not only oversees Splashlight Miami but has created new business ventures such as the Crea8t Institute , a fashion photography camp program, and Capture Events, a full service event photography company and photo booth manufacturer.
In addition to his experience in the fashion photography field, Geddes owns and operates UMT International, a marine manufacturing business in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. UMT international is a leading provider of lifting and boarding components to the luxury yacht market.
With over 15 years of experience as an entrepreneur, business owner, and photographer, Henry’s latest venture began in 2006 with designs for illumination devices for video chats. He partnered with friend and online media specialist, Ian Shiell, to create Glowzi, LLC in 2011, which is a company dedicated to providing innovative lighting solutions and products for use in video chats and conferencing.
Ian Shiell - Co-Founder
Entrepreneur and Internet Marketer Ian Shiell joined Geddes in December of 2010 to help with Glowzi operations and brand presence. Over the past 10 years, Shiell has made a habit of starting companies, building up their presence online and selling them only to move onto the next project. Currently, in addition to being co-owner of Glowzi, Shiell owns and operates the Internet Marketing Firm, LTD Media in Delray Beach, Florida. LTD Media specializes in Search Engine Optimization, Social Media and Viral Marketing.
Ian Shiell has been working along side Geddes building prototypes, following social trends, consumer patterns and closely watching the changes to the social platforms. Shiell stated, "On July 6, 2011 when Facebook announced the addition of Video Chat to their platform, we knew that once again, the internet was about to change. With the addition of the Facebook users to the already 500,000,000+ Skype users, our consumer base just doubled to over 1 billion consumers now using Skype to communicate. Whether it is for dating, business or personal use, getting the proper lighting on Video Conferencing and Video Chats is about to become a necessity."
